In the last year or so, there have been websites springing up in which people offer to advertise something through their t-shirt such as this guy. What happens is that they spread the word that they will advertise something in this way with the hope that advertisers will come on board and sign up. Most of them advertise one business/product/service per day and the price goes up throughout the year. I would assume the benefit in this pricing structure is that the expensive days later in the year benefit from the increased amount of marketing that happens over time.
The main question that has to be asked is does this form of outdoor advertising work? Is it a form of outdoor advertising or does most of the marketing come via other means than the actual t-shirt such as the person running this advertising scheme such as their website, Twitter account and various other social media portals.
What do you all think of this form of t-shirt advertising?
We are getting more of our classic designs back in stock for you to get your hands on! We will be able to send them out in a couple of weeks so have taken £2 the full price until we are able to send them out so get in there quick as we are only printing around 20 of each!
Here are the t-shirts you can buy:
Our "Scooter & Jinx" t-shirt design competition has finished and we have made a decision on the winning design!
The winner of the competition is wotto with ”When All the Petrol has gone let's make Robots”
Thanks to everyone for entering. It's all about your contributions and we want to continue printing your great designs. Check out the other competitions that we are currently running and look out for another themed competition soon!
For anyone that wished to "Tweet" Empire Magazine and support our "Get Empire Magazine to run a t-shirt competition on Bang Bang T-shirts" campaign, their username on there is @empiremagazine. Thanks!
We're currently a campaign via Twitter to have the great Empire Magazine run a design contest with us in a similar way to that which Scooter & Jinx have done.
What we would like to do is have them come up with a theme for the design entries which is in someway related to what they do (in their case probably movies or some specific type of movie!).
Through our competition and the army of people that come to our site everyday, we would then be able to inform more people about the excellent magazine which is Empire and so more of them would know about that and it's accompanying website! Plus, of course, an amazing Empire magazine inspired t-shirt design would come out of it which they can then promote them too!
If you want to help us convince Empire Magazine to run a competition on here, then please do contact them via Twitter!
We have created a new t-shirt design contest based around our buddies, Scooter & Jinx. Here is what they say about the contest:
"The remit is basic, the design has to be Scooter & Jinx branded, though not necessarily with our logo (which we will make available upon request)- just our name. The creative vision is yours to run with in terms of type face and graphics, but we want you to do what you do best and slap your individual flavor all over it and leave the rest to us. The only influence we want to have over your design is to emphasize who we are, what we do, and what inspires us. Let these few things be your guide:
Who are we and what do we do?
Well… Scooter & Jinx is a retailer and gallery that specializes in vinyl and custom art toys, graphic / urban art, apparel and all manner of eclectic artist-designed collectibles. We’re going to be selling and exhibiting the most unique and desirable goodies that we can get our mitts on.
What inspires us?
In a word, Fun! We’re a lil’ bit gangsta, a lil’ bit geek. We love robots. We also dig ninjas, grafitti, spaceships, video games, crazy/miniature golf, pinball, most things about the 80’s and we think that 12? records and casio beats are pretty awesome. We’ll never say no to a good cup of tea and we think that puppies RULE. Oh yeh, and it might be worth knowing that our words to live by are, 'We don't play'.
Number of winners: 1
Prize(s): 5 T's, and Prize pack of Stickers, Vinyl Toys and Accessories."
We know that you'll come up some amazing designs and make it very difficult for Scooter & Jinx to make a decision. Good luck!
Check out the entries!
Our "The Future" t-shirt design competition has finished and we have made a decision on the winning design!
The winner of the competition is wotto with ”Making Predictions”
If you didn't win this time, don't feel too bad as we may still approach you to ask if we can print your design in the future so keep encouraging people to come and vote on the designs so we know which ones people want printed!
We are planning on printing this Day of the Tentacle t-shirt at some point and are wondering if, those who want to buy this, would you be prepared to pre-order before we had it printed to ensure that you got yours and to help with our printing costs before we got it produced?
Let us know either in here on at the above link. Thanks!

The winner of the competition is dcastle8183 with ”Luchador Mariachi”
Yo dudes, we've had another shipment of our waynestock t-shirts in and thought that you might be interested since you all keep buying them!
In case you didn't know, Waynestock was the festival that Wayne and Garth put on in Wayne's World 2 and if you weren't there, our Wayne Stock T-shirt is probably the closest you can get (well, and watching the film again)!
With our "Anything 3" design competition ending next Monday, we thought that we would put out a reminder to you all to check out the entries and rate them so that we know which ones you would like us to print!
Alternatively, if you have an idea that you would like to see us print, submit it!
We’ve been thinking about the crazy number of t-shirt designs available for sale online that have been inspired by the releasing of The Dark Knight. It’s very interesting to see how a piece of work with so much marketing behind it can inspire the work of so many and we wonder if the work of amateur creatives will ever overtake that which is produced by the corporations in terms of mass influence.
It seems as though major corporations don’t seem to appreciate the level of dedication that so many people have (including ourselves) to their favourite pop culture icons. If they did, they would surely give fans more of a chance to have their designs sold from an official source and so capitalise on this level of dedication by simply giving them a system similar to our own except where every single design submitted can be purchased by another fan.
Doing this, the owner of the rights to said movie would allow fans to buy merchandise that is more suited to their own taste because there would be so much variety. Artists would not have to sell their copyrighted wares through unofficial online stores and the owner of the rights to a movie would make the most of this ownership. Of course, the movie studio would want to ensure a level of quality and consistency throughout its designs for a movie, but this could of course be done by selling the various designs through “official” and “fan” sections on their own site.
This would also increase the level of commitment the fans would have toward a movie and keep them coming back to the official site to find out more about it which would in turn produce a massive community. We know of a design competition being run by the makers of The Dark Knight but, from what we know, only a tiny minority of entries are selected. But why not let the fans really choose what’s best by letting them buy whatever entries they like and printing them after they had been purchased?
Of course, this is a lot of work but so is being a fan and it seems as though the craze of the fan t-shirt design is not appreciated by the owners of this intellectual property and, as fans of all things creative, it frustrates us. From reading this you might think we are trying to promote what might be our competitors, but we’re moving toward original, creative and pop culture designs and we think we’re getting there with all of the great designs our community sends in to us.
There is also the possibility of a t-shirt craze going full circle and actually influencing a film itself! We’ve explored this possibility with our ninja t-shirt and think that this may become something quite real eventually when the inevitable happens and the amazing work of amateur designers is such an influence that it receives greater acclaim than that which it was motivated by. You might say that Snakes on a Plane is one such example but in the future we can definitely see it happening on a much larger scale.
Long live the amateur creative.
Shameful plug: Our own community has come up with these Dark Knight Tee Shirts: Joker T-shirt and Funny Presidents.
How does everyone think they compare with the rest of the designs on the web?
The Dark Knight comes out over here in the UK this week and, judging by reviews, is supposed to be brilliant. We didn't have any doubts about this and have been looking forward to this sequel ever since Lt. James Gordon had his conversation with Batman about a criminal a taste for the theatrical at the end Batman Begins.
As we have been looking forward to this movie for ages, we were excited by two submissions over the last few months or so that were inspired by The Dark Knight. They were this Joker t-shirt by Wehtam and Funny Presidents by Jimiyo. The film will have to be good to match the quality of these tee shirts!
Anyone else looking forward to The Dark Knight as much as us!?
We will announce the new t-shirt design contest over the weekend so keep coming back to the site to check out what it is. If you don't want to be tied down to one of our contests and have a great t-shirt design, feel free to enter a random design. On the "You Design" page, just select "NOT FOR A COMPETITION" on the "Competition:" section.
If you want to talk about t-shirt ideas in general, you might be interested in our t-shirt ideas forum thread in which the community get together to get opinion on their design ideas. Pull up a chair and join in!
We have released Funny Presidents which was the winner of our "Anything 2!" t-shirt design competition! We are very pleased with how the design looks on t-shirt but not suprised as we knew it would look great!

We have had quite a few entries in our Monkey Island t-shirt Design competition so far and thought we would make a blog post reviewing some of those that had been entered so far. There has been quite a wide variety of efforts so far including some that have been inspired by the original Monkey Island, some which have used the later games as inspiration and others that have used ideas from all of the games as a starting point for their designs!
Here are links to some of the more popular ones:
One of our favourite designs from the "Supernatural" t-shirt design competition was EricD's Museum of Supernatural History. We are pleased to announce that you can buy this most excellent design!
UK graphic design magazine Advanced Photoshop have noticed what a great t-shirt community we have here and have written a small piece on their website's editor's blog about us. They obviously know a great t-shirt when they see one and have noted our Eletric Tape t-shirt for special mention!
Well done everyone for making this such a welcoming and exciting community. Keep up the good work!!
In our series of posts highlighting what people are talking about in the forum, lately there has been talk about the genius of Arrested Development (who's your favourite character?), music that everyone has been listening to recently (GnR - Paradise City, anyone?) and Mike Strutter have been among the topics talked about in our t-shirt forum!
Have you signed up yet?
Electric Tape was one of the winners in our Supernatural design competition that ended a few weeks ago. It was designed by epidemic and we're delighted with how the prints came out! We'll have better pics of Electric Tape very soon....

As Grand Theft Auto 4 is being released soon, we thought some of you may be looking around for a GTA 4 t-shirt. We wanted to remind anyone who is to check out own own GTA tee shirt!
